The Face-off: Black And White vs. Colored

Colors play a big role in our lives. It gives life to things and makes some things look more exciting. This is why some people think that black and white photos are dull and boring which is not true. Colored photos aren’t always better than black and white photos. And black and white photographs, also, are not always better than the colored ones. So, when you are already looking at the photos from your wedding day, how would you be able to decide which ones are better off colored and which ones are better off as black and white images?
Try looking at a photograph that is colored. Take note of the emotions and aura it gives off. Now, try looking at the same photograph, only this time it is in black and white. Notice how the emotions and aura the same photograph changed when it was transformed into a black and white photograph? This is one reason why knowing when to use the black and white effect and knowing when not to use it is important, especially if the event which was photographed is your San Francisco City Hall Wedding.
Generally, black and white images tend to give off more dramatic emotions than colored images. This is because all other colors are eliminated from the photograph. There will be no more colorful and eye catching backgrounds that could mislead the eyes of the viewer. In black and white photographs, the subject would be highlighted; the melancholic effect black and white images give off is used to enhance the emotions the image is giving off. An example of a great photograph to be in black and white is a photograph of the bride as her dad is leading her to his husband-to-be; Or a photograph of the groom talking to his best man while treasuring the last moments of his single life.
Colored images tend to give off a livelier aura. Colors are capable of giving a photograph a sense of location and letting the viewer of the photograph feel what it is like to be in that place. An example of a great photograph to be colored is the bride’s maids fooling around with sunflowers after the San Francisco City Hall Wedding; Or a little child fooling around in the dance floor.
These things could help you decide when to use the black and white effect and when not to use it. The choice between colored and black and white is subjective to you. Only you would be able to decide because you are the one who knows what emotion it is you want to be seen by the people.
